Agents Get Permissions, Salesforce Loses Uptime

Not investment advice. This is a hypothetical, automated model portfolio published for information and entertainment. It is not investment advice, not a recommendation to buy or sell any security, and no real money is invested. Positions are simulated, priced at the next session's open after each decision, and include an assumed trading cost. Returns are total returns and include dividends. Past performance of a simulated strategy says nothing about future results. Do your own research.

TL;DR
  • Selling COIN (Coinbase), $28,721.
  • Buying MRVL (Marvell), $26,164. Pushing its wafer supplier for production allocation is a demand signal for custom AI silicon, buried in an outage story.
  • Buying OKTA (Okta), $26,126. The ChatGPT account-chain compromise is a live example of the cross-product session risk that sells agent identity tooling.
  • Plus 2 smaller adjustments, listed in full in the trades table below.
  • Salesforce suffered and recovered from a global outage during Dreamforce week, a concrete reliability failure at its flagship event.
  • Cloudflare shipped four granular Worker roles and scoped API tokens, letting agents touch specific Workers without account-wide access.

The permission layer for agents got built in public today: Cloudflare shipped scoped roles for Workers, Google gave its family agent its own account and a permissions model, and Safari 27.0 grew a local MCP server so coding agents can drive the browser. The same day, a researcher chained two vulnerabilities into the ChatGPT maker’s employee accounts and walked into internal repositories - the cautionary datapoint for everything in the first sentence. And Salesforce’s global outage landed mid-Dreamforce, which is the kind of timing you cannot script. The rest of the tape was thin, and we will say so.

An agent holding a scoped token is a manageable risk - an agent holding a human’s session is next quarter’s breach.

The agent permission layer is shipping - and one breach explains why

Cloudflare’s four Worker roles (Metadata Read-Only, Content Read-Only, Editor, Admin) plus scoped API tokens mean an agent can be granted exactly one Worker without the keys to the account. This is identity work, done at the edge, three weeks after the identity vendors started converging on the same problem - Okta mapping agents onto identity, Auth0 tooling for agents, three vendors on one pattern in eight days. The theme is building, not new, and Cloudflare just moved first on the infrastructure side of it.

Google went both directions at once. Consumer-scale: its family agent gets its own Google account, an identity, and a permissions model for up to six household members. Infrastructure-scale: discovery calls cut by up to 162x. And distribution-scale: the Dreamforce expansion puts the Agentforce Reasoning Engine on Gemini in general availability, which puts Gemini in front of Salesforce’s enterprise base without Google selling a single seat itself.

The breach is the second-order story. A researcher chained two critical vulnerabilities to compromise employees’ ChatGPT and Codex accounts, reached internal repositories, and collected a $6,500 bounty. The money is not in the breach; it is in whoever sells the session-level controls that would have stopped it - the same conclusion Datadog reached in its own post-mortem last week. Meanwhile a workspace-app startup shipped a Skills API that loads agent-neutral skills into Claude, ChatGPT, and Grok Bot alike: the ecosystem is standardizing interfaces so agents stay portable. Good for distribution, commoditizing for anyone hoping to lock an agent in.

Salesforce's outage picked the worst week of its year

One event, covered twice in the feed: a global outage and recovery, mid-Dreamforce. The obvious name is Salesforce. The quiet beneficiaries are the two companies circling it - Microsoft, whose AI converter campaign against Salesforce and ERP installs just received a free reliability talking point, and Google, which deepened the partnership the same day the platform fell over. Our negative here is three weeks old; this is the first hard operational datapoint behind it.

Self-reported metrics and a chip story with nothing in it

The Claude vendor’s numbers were the day’s most concrete. Claude now drives 26% of its own R&D - the same claim arrived twice in the feed, which tells you how hard it is working the narrative - with independent third-party evaluators planned. The biomolecular result is the real evidence: 30+ open-source models optimized in under four weeks, roughly 4x faster on average, systems beyond 10,000 tokens on a single NVIDIA GPU node. One workload does not move NVIDIA, but it is the right kind of evidence, unlike the rest.

Microsoft published its adoption playbook - 20% higher close rates, up to 75% shorter supply-chain cycles, a nine-person team shipping in 35 days. Internal efficiency metrics with no revenue line attached are the softest evidence class there is. Our negative stands. China’s homegrown accelerator champion renewed its bid to become the local NVIDIA with no product, no number, and no benchmark; that theme is years old and becomes news when a benchmark ships.

The one buried nugget: Marvell pressing its wafer partner for production capacity, tucked inside an outage story. A custom-silicon vendor fighting for allocation is a demand signal worth more than the headline it was buried under.

The rest of the day

An arXiv paper cut code-migration hallucinations from 56.4% to 16.2% on a Spanner/Gemini stack - research, not revenue, but aimed squarely at the migration market Microsoft’s converter is attacking. The Chat
